Climbing to Rennes-le-Château

I didn't quite understand what I was getting myself into when I decided to drive my rental car up to Rennes-le-Château. For a person who is afraid of heights -- coupled with a fear of driving on (or off of) cliffs -- this was probably my worst decision of my entire trip to the south of France.

In any case, once I was partially up the curving, one-lane road, I realized there was no turning back until I had reached the top, anyway. I'm satisfied I went, more relieved I survived, and won't be needing to return anytime soon! The village was adorable, and the views were incredible, though, as you can see in the photos!

For fans of The Da Vinci Code, you'll recognize this chapel from the story. Rennes-le-Château is a very unique place, and is a special way to see another perspective of history in the Aude department.
